GRIFFIN JENNINGS
Artist Bio
Griffin Jennings has been playing in the NYC music scene since he was 15. With his high school band The Jacobins, Griffin cut his teeth in now-defunct storied venues like Shea Stadium and Cake Shop. In college he studied electronic music, going deep into the works of abstract composers like Iannis Xenakis and Pauline Oliveros. Out of school, he started composing film music, inspired by his father’s work as a documentary filmmaker. But when COVID hit, Griffin lost his freelance work and decided to use the moment (and unemployment checks) to fulfill his longtime dream of building a home studio. The past year has been a period of vast growth for Griffin, using his space to record other up and coming New York musicians such as Elijah Fox, Damon Smith, and Awksymoron, as well as two of his own records: the apocalyptic Threnody and the intimate upcoming release, Static and the Dark.
