Ursa Major Revelation

Artist Bio

Ursa Major Revelation is an American electro pop duo mostly from Los Angeles, California. The band consists of Ursula Rose (vocals) and Dylan Rau (production/guitar) and formed in 2019.

For 2 years Ursula Rose lived with her musician boyfriend (Dylan Rau of Bear Hands) in their Echo Park hobbit-hole apartment. During that time she was asked to perform typical “girlfriend-of-musician” duties such as listening to his various works in progress on repeat, staying awake on Ambien while attempting to write the “perfect hook”, and packing bong loads whilst prancing around their living room in an actual cheerleader costume whenever hope felt lost. Throughout that period she started to identify as a hottie-muse type but also began to see herself as an actual musician/songwriter. Eventually some of her lyrics, melodies, and even vocal recordings made their way onto Bear Hands’ fourth album “Fake Tunes”. Ursula co-wrote and sang the hook on Bear Hands single "Blue Lips" which came out in 2019, charted on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart, and amassed more than three million streams on Spotify alone.

Jon Pareles wrote glowingly of Ursula's ability to "shatter the male gaze" in a "The Playlist" feature in the New York Times. Prior to the global pandemic, Ursula accompanied Bear Hands on multiple tours where she performed “Blue Lips” to her boyfriend’s many adoring fans. After these early collaborations Ursula realized she needed to spread out, write her own songs, and start her own band. Between Bear Hands tours they rented a cabin in Joshua Tree and began to record the first Ursa Major Revelation tracks. On July 25th, 2023 the band will release their first single "Tar Pits," along with a video made during a road trip through the Baja Peninsula. Two more singles will be released in 2023 as the band begins to build it's catalogue. Their future lasts forever.
