LISTEN & SHARE: Ski Lodge – “Secure”
“On his latest single, the effervescent ‘My Friend,’ Marr wastes no time in cutting to the feeling, offering an enveloping warmth that avoids becoming a pastiche of 80s new wave and instead becomes a vibrant, natural extension of that essential genre.”
– The 405
“Andrew Marr’s croon at times sounds like OMD’s Andy McCluskey and with a New Order-y guitar part it’s like the entire Pretty in Pink soundtrack rolled into one.”
– Brooklyn Vegan
The 405 has premiered the new single from Ski Lodge entitled “My Friend”. Prior to this track Ski Lodge dropped the single “Secure” on Brooklyn Vegan. The band will be playing Elsewhere in Brooklyn this Saturday (12/9). More on the event here.

Ski Lodge was formed in 2011 in New York City by Brooklyn based multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Andrew Marr.

The band has previously released the New life EP (2016) on Old Flame Records and a self-titled-EP (2011) and full length album Big Heart (2013), both on the now defunct Dovecote Records. They have received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, The FADER, NYLON, KEXP, Interview Magazine, KCRW, Pigeons and Planes and many more.

New single “Secure” finds Marr blending contemporary indie and pop music with layers of 80’s new wave & dream pop. The songs subject matter is familiar, describing both an internal struggle and a determination to get someone to love you. It was produced and recorded by Marr and Andrew Lappin at various studios in NYC and mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Hamilton Leithauser)
