NPR’s Top New Artist On All Songs Considered

“Beneath The Bones’ utilizes a hauntingly beautiful choir hymn that lays the groundwork for the delicate guitar melodies and string arrangements that enrapture listeners with the moody, serene, and alluring atmosphere they create.”
Atwood Magazine“On the meditative track, Baxley combines the bluey and ethereal sounds of Hozier and Lewis Capaldi while maintaining a stunning simplicity”
– Glide

“Featuring gentle, evocative instrumentation supporting Baxley’s coarse voice as he engages in pensive reflection of life’s most trying and painful moments.”
The 405

“He is a musical nomad that tells his tales in his music and his tales are some of the most fascinating you will hear.”
– HuffPost

“Baxley’s muddied, molasses-soaked vocals make the most immediate impression, evoking the sound of someone worldly-wise and wizened.”

Today, Singer-Songwriter KaiL Baxley shares the video to his single, “These Arms Are Open,” the debut single off of his upcoming LP, expected in early 2020 released via AntiFragile Music. The self-produced album was recorded at the late Elliot Smith’s New Monkey Studios and United Studios in Los Angeles, California.

KaiL continues to evolve as an artist and explores different mediums to express himself, “I’ve started experimenting with film and editing. I wanted this to arrive visually in the same way images or memories flash through the mind while in the process of creating music. Kinda like when you close your eyes on DMT. What music would look like. It was a fun experiment.”

The video is filled with stunning shots of nature mixed amongst vibrant hues, peaceful environments that blend seamlessly with the track. The theme of the track matches the visual as the song was inspired in part by the power of nature.

“I wrote this song sitting in a yurt in the middle of the Nicaraguan jungle over Christmas. The interesting thing about living that way is that your circadian rhythm naturally falls in line with the rising and setting of the sun and it kinda creates this inner harmony and appreciation for things. I’d first noticed it watching the sun set one day over the ocean. I was just strumming the guitar lazily and a melody appeared,” he adds. “This was the first song I wrote for this new record.”
