Global Citizen has announced Global Citizen Week, a series of events that will culminate with the 2017 Global Citizen Festival in New York City’s Central Park.
The public, advocacy-driven events and digital activations will take place across New York City and reflect the non-profit organization’s continued effort to engage people in the movement to end extreme poverty. Global Citizen Week will run from September 17th through the 23rd and convene and activate a global network of individuals, companies, NGOs, artists, and government agencies who are committed to joining this movement and taking action.
The events are timed to coincide with the UN General Assembly, shining a light on those pressing issues to be debated by the world’s top diplomats.
“For generations, New York City has been the place where Global Citizens come together, take action, and tackle global challenges,” said Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen. “From September 17th – 23rd, Global Citizen Week will showcase the work being done by campaigners, entrepreneurs, artists, and advocates from across the world. Working with innovative companies and governments, Global Citizens will turn New York into an arena of advocacy, calling on world leaders to deliver on their promises of a world without extreme poverty.”
“New York City is proud to be a truly global city – just look around our five boroughs,” said Penny Abeywardena, NYC’s Commissioner for International Affairs. “Mayor de Blasio’s Administration is taking local action to solve challenges that are shared across the world, from poverty to social justice to climate change, proving that cities – and individuals – can lead the movement for positive change. As proud global citizens, New Yorkers are excited to welcome Global Citizen Week to our city this year.”
J.Views will also release the deluxe edition of ‘401 Days’ entitled ‘401.1’ on October 5th. ‘401.1’ will feature orchestral renditions of songs from ‘401 Days’, as well as remixes and edits from RKCB, Bad Royale, JABS, and others
