“Their brand of indie-rock feels a little eccentric; a funky backbone stomps through the stories this band likes to paint with vocal tone and lyrical prowess.”
– Substream Magazine

“Cale and the Gravity Well’s edgy bounce and melodic drive are reminiscent of such contemporary acts as Young the Giant and Foals.”
– Atwood Magazine

“Since 2015, the band have been wooing the venues of their New York hometown with thought-provoking writing and the ability to instantly redirect ears.”
-All Things Go

“Cale’s light, spry vocals carry the album through various sounds and genres.”
– Impose Magazine

Today, Brooklyn-based alternative rock band Cale and the Gravity Well share their EP Creation Mythsout on Made In The Shade Records. The album was streaming early on Substream Magazine, who wrote of the EP, ” There isn’t a second of time wasted throughout the record either; each song feels like a grandiose story of its own and the importance to detail that was observed at every level is both remarkable and refreshing. Tracks like the strangely catching and dancey ‘Contessa’ are bound to weasel their way into your heart, and by the time you reach ‘No More Water,’ you’ll be sold on the promise of Cale and the Gravity Well.”

The five track EP comes highly anticipated after the group’s 2016 debut album The Age Of Envy, which received raves from tastemakers like Impose Magazine and Music ExistenceAtwood Magazine premiered the second single “Contessa” writing, “Cale and the Gravity Well have managed to capture the magical dusk between light and dark: ‘Contessa’ offers a piece of that lighter side with a delightful slice of warm, no-strings-attached emotion.”

Cale and the Gravity Well shared the lead track “Zambia” via All Things Go who stated, “This is an addictive one, with call backs to fringe indie rock of the mid-2000’s. They clearly know where they come from and, more importantly, where they’re headed.”

Creation Myths is an EP that crafts a story of youth, anxiety, and confrontation with the future. It was curated by Jim Fairchild, Modest Mouse guitarist turned producer, and engineered by Mike Cresswell (Sun Kill Moon, ALO). Bonderman’s eclectic sensibilities combined with Fairchild’s decades of innovative arrangement experience to create an EP both powerful in its construction and humble in its aesthetic. Ordinary life may be the subject of the EP, but Creation Myths is careful to avoid banality or limitation. Creation Myths will be released digitally and physically (?) via Made In The Shade Records.
