POP Montreal, Canada's coolest festival, is very happy to announce it will head to the grandiose SXSW festival, representing Montreal and spreading POP love as far as the sound of music will go. Find the POP crew in Austin March 15th and 16th, 2012, for their official dayparty and showcase. Knowing this might cause hysteria in anticipation for its upcoming edition this September, POP Montreal is now putting its festival passes on sale at a new ridiculously low earlybird price.
At SXSW, POP Montreal wants to let you know that POP is Serious. Thursday, March 15th, POP will host a dayparty with FREE drinks for the first 150 people who show up. The lucky attendees will have a chance to catch 2009 Mercury prize winner Speech Debelle, New York's Zammuto (featuring members of the Books), about to release one of the most anticipated album's of the year in April, Toronto’s Trust, along with Doldrums, Cousins, Leif Vollebekk, Adam & The Amethysts, TOPS (ex-Silly Kissers) and Jef Barbara.
On Friday, March 16th, POP Montreal’s official showcase will tear down the house at Hotel Vegas (1500 East 6th Street) with many amazing artists, including Jennifer Castle, Duzheknew, Mozart’s Sister (ex-Think About Life, ex-Shapes & Sizes) and B L A C K I E.
With all this excitement, POP Montreal can't stop thinking about its upcoming 11th edition, happening September 19th to the 23rd, 2012. It is very pleased to announce that passes are going on sale now, at an early bird price of only $200 until June 10th, 2012. This year, the first 10 Super Passe purchasers will get more POP for their buck: a FREE OFF-FESTIVAL UPGRADE, guaranteeing FREE access to all the pre and post festival shows that POP Montreal presents starting from the date of purchase until December 31, 2012. To stir things up further, POP Montreal has also launched two contest on its social media networks. First, AD POP is calling all amateur and professional filmmakers to submit a short video to promote the 2012 band submissions, whereas Dream POP lets people suggest their dream headliners to the festival. Everyone interesting in having an input into the festival and winning some cool prizes is encouraged to apply!
