BIOGRAPHY

Danish composer, producer and singer Tobias Wilner founded the group in 2000, inspired by Mark E. Smith's approach to forming a band (the Fall), recruiting a rotating cast of traditional musicians throughout the band's history to inspire creativity. With a constant cooperation with other artists and high profile guests appearances on their albums, artists like Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil MoonRed House Painters), Erika Spring (Au Revoir Simone/ Nice As Fuck), Jonas Bjerre (Mew), Sonya Kitchell, Sara Savery (aka Drop the Gun), Manual and Findlay Brown, has the band continued to develop their own sound over the years. Today the band is based in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn and Copenhagen, Denmark. Since 2008 their line-up has consisted of Tobias Wilner (producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist) and Bo Rande (producer, multi-instrumentalist). Tobias Wilner’s has a background from experimental electronic music and as a composer for film and modern dance. He also got the electronic/IDM project Bichi and his experimental band New York United with Daniel Carter. He has contributed with guitar and noise on 3 Mew albums and lead vocal on Trentemøllers single “River of Love” with his shoegaze band Ghost Society.. His vision with Blue Foundation, upper sit his other projects, is to focus on songwriting and vocal based music. It’s based on a big love for melodies and experimental contemporary electronic dream pop music. Bo Rande is an ambient composer and trumpet player with a big love for vintage synth. In 2000 released the London-based label Moshi Moshi the first 7” single by Blue Foundations. Three years later, in 2003, the band signed with EMI/Warner Music releasing 2 critically acclaimed albums, released in the US through Astralwerks Records. In 2008 Blue Foundation established Dead People's Choice Records, that so far has released has released music by Japanese CuuShe, Neon Cloud, Ghost Society, Blue Foundation, Sara Savery and Findlay Brown. In 2018 Dead People’s Choice emerged into KØИ records. Blue Foundation gained major recognition with a remix by Zeds Dead of their song "Eyes On Fire", reaching a no. 3 ranking on iTunes Electronic Music Chart (2014). Today "Eyes On Fire" has more than 35 million youtube-plays, while the "Zeds Dead"-remix has exceeded 110 million youtube-plays. During the years Blue Foundation have expanded their audience, embracing today both the underground and the alternative mainstream. Blue Foundation released their fifth studio album "Blood Moon" worldwide September 2. 2016. Blue Foundation has been featured in major films like Twilight, Miami Vice and on TV shows like CSI:Miami and The Vampire Diaries. Their music is sampled by ex Lil Durk feat. French Montana on "Fly High", Young Thug on "She Noticed" and on Curren$y’s "Hustler". Todays live line-up includes Italian Federico Ughi on drums (The Cinematic Orchestra) and American Sonya Kitchell. Despite her only 28-years, US grammy-winner Sonya Kitchell already released 3 solo albums plus appearances on Herbie Hancock and Joni Mitchell albums to her name.
